Tank Dip Capture¶
Tank dip readings are physical measurements of fuel depth in each underground storage tank. They are taken using a calibrated dipstick and converted to a volume using the tank's dip chart.
Purpose¶
Dip readings serve as an independent check on the calculated stock level (sales and delivery-based). Regular dips allow early detection of:
- Measurement errors in nozzle totalizers
- Delivery discrepancies
- Tank leaks or losses
Capturing a dip reading¶
- Open Quick Update → [Your Site] → Tank Dips.
- Select the date (default: today).
- Tap a tank tile.
- Enter the dip height in millimetres (mm).
- If a dip chart is configured, the volume equivalent is shown automatically.
- Optionally enter the volume directly if you read it from the chart manually.
- Attach a photo of the dipstick if required.
- Tap Save.
Dip windows¶
Sites can be configured with a dip window — a time period within which dip readings must be submitted. Outside this window, a warning is shown but submission is still allowed.
Opening dips¶
Opening dip readings (taken at the start of the day, before any sales) are required as a prerequisite for the Morning Confirmation on sites where this is configured.
Date navigation¶
Use the date chips to review dip readings for the last three days. Past dip readings are read-only.
Variance flagging¶
After a dip is submitted, the system compares it to the book stock (opening dip + deliveries − sales). Variances exceeding the configured threshold generate an alert visible in the Back Office dashboard.
