Opening Stock

Opening stock records establish the baseline nozzle totalizer readings when a site first goes live on MyWestock. These readings become the "Previous reading" for the first Morning Confirmation.

Why opening stock matters

Without opening stock readings, the system cannot calculate the volume dispensed by each nozzle. The first Morning Confirmation will show "First reading for this nozzle" instead of a calculated delta.

Entering opening stock

  1. Go to Administration → Opening stock (Admin only).
  2. Select the site.
  3. For each nozzle, enter the totalizer reading at the go-live date.
  4. Click Save.

Admin only

Opening stock can only be set by Admins. Contact your administrator if you need to correct an opening stock reading.

Correcting an error

If an opening stock reading is incorrect, an Admin can update it provided no Morning Confirmation has been locked for that nozzle. Once a confirmation is locked, corrections must go through Meter Adjustments.

Resetting opening stock (re-commission a site)

When a site needs to be set up again from scratch — for example after a test run or a bad commissioning entry — an Admin can reset its opening stock from the Opening Stock screen.

The reset:

  • Unlocks the site and clears its opening nozzle and tank baseline values.
  • Deletes the site's Quick Update captures (dips, confirmations and the seeded opening baseline) so the day-one sequence can start over.
  • Requires the site code to be typed as confirmation, and asks again before proceeding.
  • Is fully recorded in the audit log.

Blocked when real data exists

The reset is refused if the site already has committed reconciliation data — any day-ends, deliveries, or reading adjustments. Those must be handled through their own workflows first; the reset will never silently wipe financial history. It is intended for sites that have not yet started live operation.
